Environment Care
Tree planting, vegetable seeds, rubbish collection, and local cleaning around village schools.
Bangladesh is a beautiful river country, but climate change and everyday waste are causing real damage. We are a small organisation, and we work where our schools already are.
In Rangpur, Gaibandha, and Bogura we distribute trees to the families of village-school children and teachers — two for wood and two for fruit — and make sure they are planted and cared for through to maturity. We also provide vegetable seeds each year so families can grow food at home, and we plant flowers around the school classrooms.
Each school becomes a collection point for paper and plastic. Children bring rubbish, and we arrange recycling or disposal. We encourage children, teachers, and parents to look after the area within about 100 metres of the school, including local cleaning and beautification projects.
In cities we look for partnerships with city corporations that employ street cleaners — for example providing jackets and quarterly seminars relevant to their work.
