Welcome to the Delta Development Project. We are dedicated to creating positive change in Bangladesh through community-driven initiatives and sustainable development.

The Context

Bangladesh is transitioning from a Least Developed Country to a Medium Developed one, yet progress remains uneven. The vast river delta of the Jamuna, Padma, and Meghna brings both natural beauty and devastating floods and erosion. Those living on river banks face the greatest poverty—often losing property, lacking education, and lacking skills for income generation. National poverty rose from 18.7% in 2022 to 22.9% in 2024, and over 30 million people are multidimensionally poor, deprived in housing, internet access, and sanitation.

Primary school dropout rates reach 13.5%, rural poverty is three times higher than urban, and only 2.7% of rural students can perform basic computer operations. Early marriage for girls under 18 stands at 46%.

Our Past Work

Over the past five years, our teams have worked in Belguchi and Kazipur (Sirajganj), Chaluabari and Kamalpur (Bogura), and Kaunia and Haragacha (Rangpur)—providing non-formal pre-primary schools, adult literacy, health and hygiene seminars, ICT skills training, and vocational courses in tailoring, electrics, refrigeration, and air-conditioning.

Our Next Proforma

We plan to expand from Sirajganj to Gaibandha, upgrading schools to early primary levels with sports integrated into the weekly curriculum. Schools will serve as centers for social awareness and hygiene education, distributing fruit, wood, and vegetable seeds, and sponsoring environmental cleaning projects. IT and tailoring skills will be taught at the district office level.

In Rangpur, similar projects will continue. In Bogura, we will introduce handicrafts skills at both city and village levels and continue running sports tournaments among local schools. In the Bihari camps of Dhaka (Mohammadpur and Mirpur), our schools will offer two pre-primary years alongside vocational, tailoring, and new IT skills training to enable income generation.
